Bharat School Ride collects only the data needed to run a safe, accountable school transport service. We never sell, rent, or trade personal data, and we never use it for advertising or profiling.
Part A — This website and the waitlist
1. Who we are
Bharat School Ride is a product of Vidhilekha Lab LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in India. For anything in this policy, write to info@vidhilekhalab.com.
2. Data we collect on this website
- Waitlist details: your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number, when you join the early-access waitlist.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use this site — pages viewed, approximate location, device type. This uses cookies and is processed by Google under its own privacy policy.
- WhatsApp contact: if you choose to message us on WhatsApp, we receive the number and message you send.
3. How we use waitlist data
- To contact you about early access, road-safety workshops in your society, and the launch of the service on your routes.
- To plan routes and onboarding capacity.
We do not share waitlist data with anyone outside Vidhilekha Lab LLP and the service providers who store it for us under confidentiality obligations.
4. Retention of waitlist data
Waitlist details are kept until the service launches in your area or until you ask us to remove them — see Delete Account. You can opt out of further contact at any time by replying to any message or emailing us.
Part B — The Bharat School Ride service
The sections below describe how the service will handle data once rides run on your routes. We will update this policy before launch if anything changes.
5. Data the service collects
- Child profile: name, class, school, photo, and pickup/drop points — provided by the parent or the school with parental consent.
- Parent contacts: WhatsApp number and emergency contact numbers.
- Driver identity: name, phone number, licence, and background-verification records.
- Vehicle details: registration, fitness, and safety-equipment inspection records.
- Trip data: live GPS location of the vehicle (captured at short intervals during active trips only), boarding and drop events with timestamps.
Tracking runs from the driver's smartphone during active school trips and stops when the trip ends. We do not track children's personal devices.
6. Children's data
Child profiles exist only with parental consent. Full details are visible only to the child's registered parents and authorised operations staff. Drivers see only what a safe pickup and drop requires: name, photo, and stop location.
7. WhatsApp notifications
Ride alerts (boarding, approach, drop, emergencies) are delivered over the WhatsApp Business API. Registering your number for the service is consent to receive these safety notifications; you can withdraw it any time by contacting us.
8. Third-party processors
- WhatsApp / Meta — notification delivery.
- Google Firebase and Google Maps — real-time location streaming and maps.
- SMS provider — one-time passwords for login only.
- Google Analytics — website usage statistics (this site only).
Each processor receives only what its function requires and is bound by its own privacy terms and our agreements.
9. Security
Data moves over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access is role-based and authenticated with phone OTP. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you promptly.
10. Retention
Trip and attendance records are retained for the duration of the active service plus 12 months, then deleted or anonymised. Live GPS data is purged on a rolling basis. Earlier deletion can be requested — see Delete Account.
11. Your rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you or your child.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent to WhatsApp notifications.
- Raise a grievance.
Email info@vidhilekhalab.com — we respond within 30 days.
12. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be announced on this website and, once the service is live, by WhatsApp notification. The effective date above always reflects the latest version.
